Dry, cracked heels are caused by chronic friction and pressure. Shoes that don’t fit properly or offer good support are a common culprit. Going barefoot frequently and/or excessive sweating can also contribute to callus formation. Make sure to wear shoes that are supportive and fit properly. Change out of sweaty socks and use foot powder to absorb excess moisture in the shoes. Use a callus cream with urea, salicylic acid, and/or alpha hydroxy acid to exfoliate and smooth callus.
