Israel, the land of our forefathers. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob lived here and are buried here in Hebron in Machpelah caves. Herod, in 20 BCE built a compound over the caves to mark the site and to honor our ancestors. Till today it is a monument for them. It is the oldest and largest Jewish monument in the world which is still functioning in its original purpose.
