Patagonia on Instagram: "What’s hempcrete? In a nug, it’s an all-natural insulation alternative derived from mixing industrial hemp with water and a lime-based binder. Once the hemp is harvested, it’s dried and processed to extract the hurd (the woody inner core of the stalk), then ground up and mixed with water and lime. Hemp gives hempcrete its rigidity and antimicrobial properties (no mold), while the lime makes it fire-resistant. Hempcrete is versatile, too. Contractors building with it can
