Something that continually surprises people is that Colorado is one of the biggest tornado hotspots in the world. While most tornadoes in Colorado are rated pretty low, the terrain features steady wind shear throughout the late Spring and Summer provide a ripe environment for twisters in the eastern 1/2 of the state.
