This amazing olla was made by the Laguna Pueblo potter Arroh-a-och between 1870 and 1880. She was a transgender woman or two-spirit, and as you can see she was an amazing artist. The scale of this piece is astonishing but what I find fascinating are the Zuni motifs painted onto the vessel. This means she either traveled to Zuni during her life or was possibly of Zuni descent.
