Swimmers are athletic, lean, aesthetic (not bulky) and I believe doing weighted jump rope training delivers a similar result (and happens to stimulate the muscles in a way that paddling would too). I am NOT saying doing weighted ropes is a way to replace the muscle building benefits of weight lifting but there is def some form of muscle building and increased muscle endurance happening.
