Last week, our team at Meadowview Research Farms sowed almost 2,500 American chestnut seeds! These seeds were harvested across all of our chapters, from Alabama to Maine. To further study breeding a blight resistant American chestnut tree, these seeds will be carefully nurtured and monitored. After they start their growth in the greenhouse, they’ll eventually move to the shade house, and then they’ll make their way into the orchard! | The American Chestnut Foundation

Micropropagating American chestnut plantlets in the Plant Tissue Culture Lab at @SUNY ESF 🔪🌱 More information: These clonally propgated chestnuts are not meant for restoration or field plantings. We use tissue culture trees for research purposes only such as studying OxO gene expression or conducting controlled fungal inoculations. We also put tissue culture generated trees into high light growth chambers to produce transgneic pollen to be used in controlled pollinations! #americanchestnut #bi
