I propagate pileas from single leaves by using the leaf bud propagation method. What is a leaf bud cutting? It consists of a leaf, a petiole and a stem piece (with a node containing a dormant bud). ⠀ ⠀ As the apical meristem (top part of any stem that shoots out new growth) grows, it leaves behind regions of meristematic cells at the nodes, between the stem and the petiole. Meristematic cells are undifferentiated cells, meaning they can grow to be different things - leaves, roots, stems...These

Unlimited Basil is easy when you regularly prune and propagate. The more you prune, the fuller the plant gets and each stem can be propagated into a new plant.😋🌱#OptimisticKitchen #happyeating #makeyourkitchenyourhappyplace #ReduceFoodWaste #budgetfriendly #growingbasil #freshbasil #herbgarden #propagating #propagationstation | Optimistic Kitchen

You should try this!!! ⬇️ Chop and Propagate!! ✂️ 🌱 As your trailing plant grows long vines, over time the leaves at the soil can die off and make it look bald at the top. 👎 But you can make your plant look more full again by taking a clean pair of scissors and finding a node on one of the vines. A node is anywhere that a leaf comes off the vine. Place the cuttings in water in a location they get plenty of warmth and light. Once your propagations have roots (I usually wait for at least 2 inche

Propagating Rosemary in Autumn 🍂 I propagate my perennial herbs like rosemary at least twice a year, but around this time of the year, I like to take cuttings to give as little sustained gifts. Ideally when propagating woody herbs like rosemary it is best to take semi-ripe cuttings. This can be done earlier in the season, but towards the end of the summer or even autumn work just fine. Just ensure they are not currently flowering. Then, simply cut sections around 10-15cm long from the plants, ta

🌿HOW TO PROPAGATE A PLANT | Follow for Daily Plant Tips 🌿 Propagating is such a fun activity and I think all plant parents should give it a try! The most important part is making sure you have a node when you take a cutting or roots and new leaves won’t grow (this applies to most plants). When was the first time you propagated a plant after you got interested in plants? And if you haven’t propagated before, do you think you’ll try it now? . . . indoor jungle houseplants easy plants plant tips

One of the EASIEST plants to propagate!! I love how simple tradescantia propagation is! Simply cut below a node and place in water or even directly back into soil! I like to peel the bottom leaf or leaves off too, but that’s not 100% necessary. The best part is that these root so quickly! I’ll likely start seeing roots within a week or so! Now an important Nanouk care tips ↓↓ Don’t be like me… the whole reason I decided to propagate this plant was because it was looking rather rough. I hadn’t be

How to propagate a Rubber tree ☺️ Cut the top off, just below a node. A node is the part from which a leaf grows. Remove the lower leaves. If the leaves are very small, you can leave 2-3 leaves on the cutting. If they are as huge as mine, you don't want to leave more than 1 leaf. More leaves will use up more energy, and make it less likely for the cutting to successfully root. I should have even cut my leaf in half, so it uses up less energy. Once you have the cutting, you have 2 options: 1) Put

Jade leaf and stem propagation - There are multiple ways of propagating jade plants. You can propagate stems and leaves in water or in soil. One method isn't necessarily better than the other. Use the one you are more comfortable with or the one which is more successful for you. My recommendation is to do soil propagation for jades, as they are succulents, they have plenty of water stored in their stems and leaves and they propagate easily in soil.⠀ ⠀ I stick the leaves in the soil and leave the

Would you like more fiddle leaf figs? 🌿 They make bold and brilliant indoor plants with impressively large leaves. 🪴Sometimes they can grow too tall, but it creates an ideal opportunity to give them a trim and propagate a new plant from the piece you've cut off. 🌿Using sharp secateurs, cut a piece of stem with at least a few nodes (bumps on the stem). Make a cut just below a node, remove the lowest leaves and pop the cutting in a glass of water. 🌿Place in a brightly lit spot and refresh the

When I first started gardening, I grew annual veggies and herbs - basil, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. And I STILL do! But I've discovered the incredible value of growing perennials, or plants that you can plant ONCE and they'll pay off for you for many years to come. Take asparagus for example. After a year or two of growing, your asparagus patch will reliably produce for 30 years. Artichoke is similar. If you cut it back once a year, you don't have to start new seeds - it'll just go dormant f
