Lots of Mustang grapes (Vitis mustangensis) are growing nicely all across Texas! The tops of the leaves are dark green but the undersides are a fuzzy white or gray, like the nose of a horse. The grapes are currently green but will turn dark purple as the ripen in early July. Look for the vines climbing over thing in full sun. The grapes are too acidic to eat raw but this acidity creates very complex, delicious flavors when turned into jelly, jam, or wine. 😃#forager #foraging #texas #wild #grape
