Eastern box turtle | Case 23-0393 This adult female Eastern box turtle was hit by a car and taken to UGA’s Veterinary college for triage, then sent to CNC for care and rehab. Having a cracked plastron (lower shell), the wound was cleaned and “fixed” in place in order for the tissue to heal. Just like our bones, the turtle's shell is living tissue and can heal back to normal. Once the healing stabilized, the turtle was evaluated and then released back in Madison, GA.
