OSAGE BOOK CLUB | The Osage Nation Historic Preservation Office hosted its first meeting of the season for the Osage Book Club this past Friday. The Osage Nation Department of Natural Resources continues to survey orphaned oil wells throughout the Osage Nation thanks to nearly $20 million in federal grants from the U.S. Department of the Interior. There are more than 43,000 wellbores on the Osage Reservation and more than 1,600 orphaned wells have been documented. These wells may have been deactivated because of economic viability, failure to transfer ownership, or neglect and thus no longer have legal owners responsible for their care.
