A sense of a foreshortened future is very common among trauma survivors. This often happens because trauma disrupts our perception of safety, stability, and predictability. when we experience trauma, especially in our formative years at a very young age, it puts the brain in survival mode, making us focus intensely on immediate threats and survival rather than long-term goals or dreams. It can be challenging to find the motivation to engage in activities because you feel like the future is not g
