Chen Sheng (died c. January 208 BC [1]), also known as Chen She ("She" being his courtesy name [2]), posthumously known as King Yin, [3] was the leader of the Dazexiang Uprising, the first rebellion against the Qin dynasty.

The Chen Sheng and Wu Guang uprising (simplified Chinese: 陈胜吴广起义; traditional Chinese: 陳勝吳廣起義; pinyin: Chén Shèng Wú Guǎng Qǐyì), August 209 B.C.– January 208 B.C., [3][4] was the first uprising against the Qin dynasty following the death of Qin Shi Huang.

Chen Sheng (Traditional Chinese: 陳勝) (d. 209 B.C.E. or 208 B.C.E. around the new year), known in some sources as Chen She (陳涉), was the leader of the first rebellion against Qin Dynasty during the reign of Qin Er Shi (Húhài (胡亥) Second Emperor).

Prof. Chen’s current research covers research on bacterial antimicrobial resistance, virulence and tolerance in the veterinary, food and medical microbiology fields.

Aug 24, 2022 · Chen Sheng launched the first large-scale peasant uprising in Chinese history, became the pioneer of the anti-Qin rebellion, and was the first peasant uprising in China. After he led the army to occupy Chen Commandery 陈郡, he officially proclaimed the king and named the country “Zhang Chu 张楚”.

Dr. Chen is a fellow of the United Kingdom Royal Academy of Engineering, a fellow of Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and a fellow of IET. He is one of the original ISI Highly Cited Researcher in engineering in March 2004.
