Feb 11, 2012 · One way mileage from the Cathedral Butte trailhead to All American Man is right about 10 miles. That first mile or so is a 1,000 drop on a loose, rocky trail, then a bit of bush whacking to Kirk Cabin and from there its smooth sailing.

Mar 16, 2020 · My hike's objective was to reach All American Man in Salt Creek Canyon, also know as Sun Youth or Oshach Payatuma. Salt Creek canyon is full of places to visit. I managed to see Kirk's cabin and the Four Faces pictograph.

Finally, 1.2 miles north of the squash patch the trail arrives at the canyon’s eastern wall and passes immediately below the next major point of interest: the All American Man Pictograph. The trail also passes another Indian ruin just 100 yards before it reaches All American Man.

The highlights of this journey include the All-American Man, Four Faces, and Flying Carpet Pictographs, a vast number of prehistoric cliff dwellings and granaries, ancient artifacts, and ample opportunities for seclusion.

This post is for a day hike that begins at the upper trailhead and turns around about 8 miles later at the All American Man pictograph. Several more miles are hiked while exploring different ruins and rock art sites along the way.

Mar 20, 2018 · Petroglyph National Monument offers four different hiking trails. Three trails allow for petroglyph viewing and one trail does not. These trails range in length, from one to four miles roundtrip, and in degree of difficulty, from easy to moderately strenuous.

Sep 17, 2023 · 8.2 mi – The trail passes close by the All American Man Pictograph. 8.8 mi – Cross over Salt Creek, and Four Faces Spring, another great place for water. Right before the spring is the Four Faces Pictograph and ruins. 9.4 mi – A small spur trail leads to the SC3 campsite. Stay the night, then continue north on Salt Creek Trail in the morning.

Mar 30, 2015 · Five or so tightly winding miles along flowing Salt Creek flanked by crooked Cottonwoods to the All-American Man petroglyph, painted in stunning blues and reds inside an alcove wall. The creek valley widened and the trail straightened out.
