That threaded shaft holds the oil pump in the block. To remove distributor remove the screw with the spring on it. Distributor will lift straight out.

2005年5月24日 · I've got a 1928 GMC one ton truck with a split flathead 6 cylinder engine by Pontiac. (I know, not a Chevy, but at least a GM!) Anyway, I'm trying to remove the distributor, but after loosening the clamp that secures it to the head, it only comes up about 1/2 inch and stops. I'm afraid to pry too much on it for fear of breaking something else.

2008年7月18日 · I have freed several that were stuck by a varnish-like coating on the shaft by using a 400 grit paper first to take the rust or varnish buildup down to shiny metal, lot of patience, keeping it drenched in lacquer thinner, and lots of working the parts back and forth. Watch out how you grab the shaft.

2009年5月24日 · It is common for any engine that has had the flywheel removed and replaced to have the timing mark miss aligned with the crank/camshaft. I would check for TDC by removing #1 spark plug, rotating until the piston is at its top position and the intake valve has just closed.

Installed distributor to #1 position on electrical schematic. Cannot find "25" mark on flywheel in peep hole. The engine has a modified Olds head with custom 1.72 rockers, custom long rods and 305 Chev pistons and a counter weighted Ford "B" crank.

2009年1月10日 · stuck/broken distributor. I've seen this with small block Fords, but never with a small block Chevrolet. I'd just pull the intake manifold with the distributor remnants still "attached". It's probably "varnished" in, use some carb cleaner to try and desolve it, then be sure and drain/change the oil.
