WILC was incorporated in 1981 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency. WILC is funded as a Center for Independent Living by both federal and state government agencies. WILC is also funded by county government agencies, fee for service contracts, grants, and donations.

WILC has a long history of providing services designed by, directed by, and, in most cases, delivered by qualified individuals with a wide range of disabilities. Programs reflect the requirements of WILC’s consumers and the demands of our evolving society.

The NY state-wide TBI Program is divided into 12 regional centers. WILC, which is the Hudson Valley Region Center, provides services for the residents of seven lower Hudson Valley counties (Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster Counties).

WILC’s free NY Connects information and referral line, 866-715-4700, is open for business in seven counties in the lower Hudson Valley: Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster.

As a peer-driven, community-based organization that empowers people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives, WILC is committed to helping individuals address these barriers and build pathways toward independence and inclusion.
