Throughout its over 60 year history, the organizers of WEIO have seen print and film crews from all over the globe. Magazines such as Cosmopolitan, People and USA Today, have offered articles on the WEIO Games.

The high kick events require the athlete to jump and kick a suspended object and land on the floor demonstrating balance to the floor officials. The high kicks are considered the premier events of WEIO.

The World Eskimo-Indian Olympics (WEIO) is an annual event held over four days in July. WEIO promotes the cultural expertise and traditions of Alaska, Greenland, Siberian and Canadian Inuit and Native Americans.

As an organization we have been approached about changing our name. We have found that opinions vary widely in the Native population and even among the governing board of WEIO.
