Jun 15, 2023 · WPHL — known locally as PHL17 — will lose its MyNetworkTV affiliation and become the new home of The CW beginning Sept. 1, Nexstar announced Thursday, describing Philadelphia as one of “the most important television markets in the country.” That means viewers will notice a change in the station’s prime-time lineup.

Jun 15, 2023 · WPHL, which is currently known as PHL 17, will lose its MyNetworkTV affiliation to become the city's CW affiliate starting on September 1. NexStar owns WPHL (channel 17) in Philadelphia, so the move isn't too surprising. This means that nightly the station will air the CW's primetime programming including Walker and Riverdale.

On September 1, 2023, the station became an affiliate of The CW Network which broadcasts LIV Golf, and ACC Football and Basketball. Jun 14, 2023 · CW programming is the only programming moving from WPSG to WPHL. I don’t think the morning news is going away when WPHL gets The CW. They have no reason to cancel it. 1 month later... The switch to The CW had some technical issues last night. A test card came on for a few minutes at 8pm and some of the bumpers were cut off or repeating.
