Sep 1, 2004 · It really is fairly simple and shoul be pretty cheap to have a pair of tool steel stubs made. Mine cost about $100 back in 2000-2001. It may sound expensive, but the cartridges you put on them are cheap compared to NOS 411/412 cartridges and you come out cheaper and far far better in the long run...and you only have to make them once. Jan 22, 2003 · My '74 412 L-Jet is stalling. I thought is was due to a tear in my air intake boot. We cleaned and sealed it as suggested by VW Bill and others below. When it kept stalling I got a second opinion. According to my mechanic, the flaps on the meter are not resetting or are shot and the meter needs to be replaced. Does that make any sense?

Mar 22, 2005 · Well, I don't know about the AT equipped Type 4's, but the 412 2dr. sedan w/ 4spd. manual is the second fastest stock aircooled VW ever produced, second only to the VW SP-2 I believe (at least in top speed).

May 27, 2005 · okay I have done alot of rebuilds big and small but have never done a aircooled VW. question is I know that you guys are very insistent on lapping the barrels to the heads, but are you guys just setting the barrels metal to metal to the heads or are you also using sealing rings. my 1.7 had sealing rings between the cylinders and the heads, so I am puting new ones …

Mar 9, 2013 · More VW 412 progress. Not a lot, but some. Any progress is good, when you have 10 projects, and trying to trim them down. So - finished removing the OEM+ intake manifold setup the previous owner spent lots and lots of time creating.

Dec 14, 2016 · I have a vw 412 le fuel injection with an automatic gearbox. I have 3 problems that I need assistance with. 1) The car experiences a lack of power at low speeds,usually till 60km/h. This is experienced most when going uphill. 2) After some time of driving when I stop at a robot or stopping in traffic, the car switches off most of the time.

Mar 23, 2002 · The 412 was no different, if parts were available the average backyard mechanic would have no problem fixing it themselves. FI makes it a little harder, however L-Jet is also pretty simple. My suggestion is to get two completely functioning FIs working and swap parts if needbe after basic troubleshooting techniques are done.
