I reported to VP 28 at NAS Barber's Point in December 1951. We had an enlisted pilot from Omaha named Ordell Kerschner. My boss was LTJG Ruggerio from Brooklyn . . . he played fooyball at Denison College in Ohio.
The Heritage of VP-28's Hawaiian Warriors
VP-28 deployed to Naval Station, Sangley Point, Luzon, Republic of the Philippines in October 1965, and operated as a unit of the U.S. Seventh Fleet while providing reconnaissance and antisubmarine warfare support in the South China Sea.
