Tortuga Lodge is an unexpected oasis in the Tortuguero region, on the northern Caribbean side of Costa Rica. Perched on a strip of land between sea, river and a vast expanse of untamed tropical forest, it’s an otherworldly destination of haunting beauty.

Discover one of the most beautiful destinations on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast. To get there, we will travel by boat down the Caño Palma channel through the intense jungle foliage. The canal’s surface reflects light producing a magical mirror effect, a natural phenomenon resulting from the accumulation of tannins in the water.

The lodge sits on the bank of the Tortuguero River, 1 mile from the mouth of the river and about a ten-minute boat ride from the town of Tortuguero. You can’t drive all the way to Tortuguero because there are no roads.
