Jan 29, 2023 · I’ve had really good success with Tonerider’s Strat sets, HSS sets and Mean P-90 set. I like them. That said, if you are looking for bang-for-buck, I think Bootstrap makes much better pickups and are cheaper and made in the US. I do have a set of Planet Tone Elite Pro A4 and A2’s in my Les Paul. Those are great pickups.

Oct 31, 2021 · Before you buy Tonerider humbuckers, just know that I had a Tonerider A4 neck humbucker "die" on me, and the same thing happened to a friend with a set of BYOGuitar PAF clones (made by Tonerider as far as I gather).

Dec 1, 2008 · Don't let the price fool you. These are heavy duty, very well designed and built pickups that are comparable in quality and tone to the best out there. I have a Generator model in a HSS Strat and it sounds incredible. Sort of like a JB with a bit less treble. Tonerider makes the pickups for the Squier Classic Vibe series.

Nov 8, 2016 · While installing the pickup, I also immediately changed out the stock A2 magnet as well as the A2 magnet that I had put in the Alnico Classic IV bridge pickup. Essentially, I installed a pair of Alnico Classic IV PAF style pickups in this guitar. With the A4 magnets, the AC pickups are bright, lively and to my ears vintage sounding.

I'm mainly looking at Tonerider pickups, since they're available here locally, and they're cheap. Particularly the Alnico IV, and the Generator. We play mainly thrashy/death metal stuff, with some doom mixed in.

Jul 1, 2009 · My experience is with the Alnico 4 humbucker PAF set. I feel they're a cut above GFS for about the same price. The Tonerider A4s in my Epi SG sound just as good as the Gibson 490R/Duncan '59 combo in my Agile LP.
