TNQ is an Australian television station, licensed to, and serving the regional areas of Queensland. The station is owned and operated by Network 10. Southern Cross 10 in Queensland began in 1978 as North Queensland Television, a partnership between two regional stations:

TNQ-7 Townsville began transmission on 1 November 1962. The callsign stood for Telecasters North Queensland. Relay stations would be later set up at Bowen on VHF-1, Northward on VHF-9 and Stuart on UHF-68. Sometime in 1975/76, Northward would move to VHF-5A. FNQ-10 Cairns began transmission on 7...

Gleeson commenced his career working as a technician before buying radio station 4AY in the 1950s. [5] Gleeson then moved into television, becoming chairman of Telecasters North Queensland which saw Townsville become the first city north of Brisbane to receive television with the launch of TNQ-7 on 1 November 1962. [6] .

TNQ-7 Townsville was launched on November 1, 1962. NQ7’s studios and transmitter were initially based on Mount Stuart, on the outskirts of Townsville but was badly damaged during Cyclone Althea in 1971. It took 5 days before TNQ7 was back on air, and 6 months before the station was able to return to Mount Stuart.
