Safflorite is a rare cobalt iron arsenide mineral with the chemical formula (Co, Fe) As 2. Pure safflorite is CoAs2, but iron is virtually always present. Safflorite is a member of the three-way substitution series of arsenides known as the loellingite group.

Named in 1835 by Johann Friedrich August Breithaupt from German "Safflor" or "Zaffer" because it was used in the manufacture of zaffer, an impure oxide of cobalt used as a pigment. Löllingite Group.

Safflorite is a rare mineral with few occurrences. It was found in Germany in Wittichen, Black Forest, Baden-Wurttemberg; and in Schlema-Hartenstein and Schneeberg, in the Erzgebirge, Saxony.
