SST-1 (or Steady State Superconducting Tokamak) is a plasma confinement experimental device in the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), an autonomous research institute under Department of Atomic Energy, India.

The Steady State Tokamak (SST-1) program is overviewed. The physics objectives of SST-1 are two-fold: firstly, to operate highly shaped, double-null diverted plasmas with non-inductive current-drive, with advanced confinement modes; and secondly, achievement of good performance in a steady-state operation.
