Mplus Discussion >> Decide linear or quadratic for GMM model
2009年6月2日 · I read in your reply above, "You should include a quadratic growth model in the overall part of the MODEL command. You can then look at the means of the quadratic growth factor in each class and see if it is different from zero." But my questions are: 1) Is the same true for a cubic model? 2) In which technical output should I look for the means?
The general latent variable growth mixture model can be represented as follows: The growth mixture model in Figure 2 consists of the following components: (i) a univariate latent growth curve of observed variable T with an intercept (I) and slope (S), (ii) a categorical variable for class (C), and (iii) covariates or predictor variables (X).

The fourth term is the cubic growth factor so c is the cubic growth factor in this example. If you have already used c to represent a latent class variabe, then you need to use another name for the cubic growth factor. The names of the growth factors do not need to be i, s, q, and c.

2007年2月21日 · I'm trying to fit a quadratic growth model using 6 time points. I want to set the intercept at the third time point. I used the command below: i s q| GPK@-2 GK@-1 G1@0 G2@1 G3@2 G5@4; However, the loadings on the quadratic slope didn't look correct. It was shown 4, 1, 0, 1, 4, and 16. So, I generated a new command below and it seems correct:

2001年3月3日 · The H0 quadratic growth model has 12 parameters: three means for the intercept, slope, and quadratic growth factors; three variances for the intercept, slope, and quadratic growth factors; three covariances among the growth factors; and three residual variances of the outcome.

2020年10月15日 · I have an LGM of 11 repeated observations, that includes an intercept, and linear and quadratic growth functions. I have several time invariant predictors of these growth parameters. I would like to display the estimated growth curves for two different levels of one of these predictors, in order to illustrate the effect of the predictor.
Fig. 1 Quadratic growth curve model for t panel waves of the individual trajectories. Variations of individual trajectories are captured by q-numbers of latent variables ηwhereas usually η1 is the intercept, η2 is the linear slope and in case of nonlinear development η3 represents the quadratic slope (cf. Fig. 1).

2005年5月19日 · There is no default growth shape in Mplus - you can specify either a linear or a quadratic curve. You can check if adding the quadratic growth factor significantly improves the fit by looking at the significance of the quadratic factor mean. To constrain the variance of a variable - say "s" - in Mplus, you simply say "s@0;"
