The Noma (野間馬,, Noma-uma) is a critically-endangered Japanese breed of small horse. It originates from the island of Shikoku , the smallest of the four principal islands of Japan, [ 3 ] : 490 and is named for the former district of Noma , the northernmost part of the former province of Iyo , now Ehime Prefecture .
