NGC 454 - Wikipedia
NGC 454 is a pair of interacting galaxies located in the constellation Phoenix. John Herschel discovered it on October 5, 1834. It was described by Dreyer as "very faint, small, round, brighter middle."

2008年4月24日 · NGC 454 is galaxy pair comprising a large red elliptical galaxy and an irregular gas-rich blue galaxy. The system is in the early stages of an interaction that has severely distorted both components. The three bright blue knots of very young stars to the right of the two main components are probably part of the irregular blue galaxy.

Collectively known as NGC 454, the upper galaxy is a red elliptical galaxy called NGC 454 E, while below it is NGC 454 W, a blue, gas-rich irregular galaxy. Despite being in the early stages of their interaction, both galaxies already show severe distortion.

Title: The NGC 454 system: anatomy of a mixed on-going merger
2017年8月9日 · Abstract: This paper focuses on NGC 454, a nearby interacting pair of galaxies (AM0112-554, RR23), composed of an early-type (NGC 454 E) and a star forming late-type companion (NGC 454 W). We aim at characterizing this wet merger candidate via a multi-lambda analysis, from near-UV to optical using SWIFT-UVOT, and mapping the Halpha intensity (I ...
