Nov 8, 2006 · The MS 261. This saw is amazing. The Belle of the Ball at my insignificant event yesterday. By far the most refined chainsaw I own. From starting, to bar buried cuts, to just sitting happily idling, she is fine just to be doing whatever you ask. Anti Vibs are the best. Smooth Smooth Smooth is all I can say.

Sep 2, 2023 · I bought a new Stihl 261 CM a few weeks ago. When the engine is cold, it floods and then I have to wait 15-20 minutes and then it starts easily. I always attempt to start it by putting it on "Start" and pulling it 1-3 times. I never pops even if I pull several more times. I move the switch up and it still won't start unless I give it a rest.

Apr 10, 2011 · The 261 is a much improved saw with more power, better ant-vibs and air filtration, and worth the extra cost. I recently got a new 346xp off Ebay for $430 and it's a much better saw than the the 260. The two best saws in the 50cc category are 346xp and 261. A new 261 here would have been over $600 after tax. Sep 25, 2014 · My old unported 261 would sit between 8-9500 in the cut where the ported saw will sit between 10500-12000 in the cut. The saw really does cut more like a 60-70cc saw with nice light wieght. lt's got one hell of an attitude and with 361 Dbl dawgs and 3/8 chain, l certainly found what l was dreaming for.

Dec 18, 2011 · I know the 261 has more bells and whistles than the 271/291. ex. - decompress valve, adj. oil pump, pleated filter vs fleece, 1/4 turn shroud cover screws. means little to me for $120 more. for cutting 2-3 cords a year i think the 271 is the one for me.
