Feb 26, 2021 · P.S. I just checked the RTS site and the software WCS-51 is reported to have different model version in the software. Check the label under the battery for your specific model. Checking mine, it's a ID-51A with a 2nd line of PLUS2. As I recall the PLUS2 added features that likely are not compatible with earlier models.

Oct 23, 2020 · Can you communicate with the ID51 with the ID-51a software, upload/download memories etc.? If this works there's really not much reason for it to refuse to communicate with the radio. Try a different computer maybe? Have the correct firmware? It's different between the Plus and Plus2 radios.

May 11, 2018 · My current HT is getting long in the tooth and I'm looking to upgrade. One under consideration is Icom's ID-51A. One thing that struck me, though, is lack of a keypad. I guess I've just become so accustomed to using a keypad, it seems odd to think of not having one. I'd be curious to know of people's experience stuff that I'm accustomed to like:

Jan 24, 2025 · Batteries are consumables. The ID-52 does not charge continuously, once it reaches full, charging turns off. I could see it becoming discharged sitting in the stand and recording everything. You should get 300 or so cycles on a battery. No such thing as battery memory with lithium, unlike the old NiCad batteries.
