In Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Gollum is a CGI character voiced and performed by the actor Andy Serkis. He is smaller than Frodo or Sam, but has considerable strength and agility.

Barely glimpsed in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), he becomes a central character in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
