bought a new gopro hero 8 black, put the battery in, and the UI got frozen on boot. I removed the battery and it booted back up. I noticed the video feedback is black and when i try to record, the UI crashes. when i switch from video to picture mode, the screen lags and then freezes.

YES! that is exactly what I did wrong. I'm used to the old 3+ and the buttons worked differnet. I was getting ready to return this camera.
