2023年10月3日 · The F-5A "Freedom Fighter" and the Two-Seat F-5B The F-5A was a basic aircraft design that was optimized for air-to-ground operations with limited air-to-air serviceability. This was mostly due to the lack of any onboard fire control radar system to help identify, track and engage aerial targets with guided/homing missiles all her own.

The F-5A is 0.03 Mach number faster in level flight. It lands twenty knots slower and it has a 28,600 feet-per-minute (fpm) unaccelerated rate of climb at sea level, compared with 19,000 fpm for the F-100C.

The US Navy used the F-5E extensively at The Naval Fighter Weapons School at NAS Miramar, VF-127, VF-43 and VF-45. The F-5 fleet continues to be modernized with replacements F-5E/Fs purchased from Switzerland. These were updated as F-5N/Fs with modernized avionics and other improved systems.
