2004年6月28日 · Read this and you will never worry about 3/8's grade 5 bolts holding a a mear engine block again. I think everyone should educate them selfs on bolts, I can tell by everyones answers about 5 VS 8 just to hold a block on a stand that everyones just quessing, considering a grade 5 .250 bolt take over 3600 lbs of force to shear it.

2006年5月23日 · The bolts are 3/8"-16 but the length depends on how thick the four engine stand "arms" are. Could be 2 to 3" long. I recommend buying washers (thick if possible) also for these bolts.

2004年10月13日 · [brother works for a tubing company, in maintenance, and can weld]. ahhh the benefits of "govt" work. but you should see my homemade jack stands. made these myself during a vacation shut down period when i used to work in a heavy fabrication shop. that gives me an idea, we should hold a homemade jackstand or engine stand olympics on here.

2005年7月28日 · My stand includes 4.25" standoffs that the studs go through. The purpose for this extension is that I don't have to remove the clutch set up if I have pulled an engine and doing operations that don't require it's removal.

2009年6月22日 · The stuff sold at most stores is chinese grade 0 junk. You can put a nut on it and just keep tightening until it breaks. Grade 3 isn't something I would use to hold an engine on a stand. Grade 5 minimum! I also never scrimp on my engine stands. My engines cost too much to leave to chance.

2008年2月7日 · I dont want to point out the obvious, but make sure you get at least grade 5 bolts grade 8 would probably be overkill, but its your feet under that motor. First motor I tried putting on a stand (16 years old at the time) I got some generic farmer bolts. Fortunately it was still hooked to the hoist when the bolts snapped. Jim

2015年3月14日 · There are 4 bolt holes on the 2ZZ where you can attach a stand to. 2 of them are threaded, and 2 are unthreaded. Solution: *(2) M12 x 1.25mm x 100 threaded to block + washers (to make engine flush with the stand so it's not wobbling) *(2) M12 x 1.25mm x 100 threaded into nuts + washers (washers may not be needed here)

2014年3月27日 · I have had a Bigblock hanging in an engine stand using four 3/8 unc grade 5 bolts. To make it stronger I decided to use 4 inches long grade 8 studs and nuts instead. Last night when I just rolled the engine/engine stand on the floor one stud broke off just in front of the nut. The nut with the broken piece of stud in it fell to the floor.
