Situated on Magnolia Bluff overlooking Puget Sound, Discovery Park offers spectacular view of both the Cascade and the Olympic Mountain ranges. The secluded site includes two miles of protected tidal beaches as well as open meadow lands, dramatic sea cliffs, forest groves, active sand dunes, thickets and streams.

Discovery Park is home to a richness of history. There is no doubt that the park holds a particular fondness for Seattleites and international visitors alike. While Discovery Park is well-known for its Military History, much less is known about its indigenous, pre-settlement history.

We use an experiential approach to learning, with a variety of materials for children to see and touch both in the classroom and outdoors.

2015年2月3日 · That is what makes Discovery Park such a unique place. It is a place to escape the turmoil of the city with its loud noises and cars; a place to relax, experience fresh air, tall trees, expansive vistas, and possibly view some wildlife.

From May 25-Sept. 7, 2024, a free shuttle loops between the East, North, and Beach parking lots at Discovery Park, arriving each location approximately every 30 minutes. Shuttle operates on Saturdays only from 11 am-5:30 pm, with the last trip leaving the beach at 5:15.

The transfer to Seattle of a major portion of the Fort Lawton site challenges this city to create within its borders a public park of unparalleled magnificence. The site is one of breathtaking majesty.

Senator Henry Jackson introduced a bill enabling cities to acquire surplus federal lands at no cost for park and recreational purposes; this bill, signed into law in 1970 by President Nixon, enabled Seattle to free up $3 million in Forward Thrust acquisition funds for park development.

2023年6月28日 · Seattle Parks and Recreation is #ParkProud to offer a FREE summer beach shuttle at Discovery Park to help improve access, reduce traffic congestion, and support a thriving environment. On select weekends, the shuttle will loop between Discovery Park Visitor Center, the North Parking Lot, and the Beach.
