2017年1月22日 · Most Chicago people I know have somewhat of a southern sounding accent. At least in the black community. Detroiters have a accent similar to the bay area (Oakland, CA). Watch the movie Fruitvale Station, they have that Detroit accent. I almost thought NBA player Damian Lillard was from Detroit when I heard him talk, but he is from Oakland.

2010年5月20日 · Of course the accent is southern. What else would it be? On an episode of Justified (which is based in Kentucky) they had a character on from Detroit that sounded very southern. They referred to it on the show as the Detroit accent. I consider Michigan to be a southern state. Michigan stopped being mid-western about 30 years ago.

2018年5月27日 · Both are a nasally accent, but I notice my Michigan family (Pontiac Area) have a more high-pitched accent than what you hear from a typical Chicago person. Really, the upper Midwest have a generally nasal-sounding accent, just to varying degrees.

2008年10月24日 · I moved to Chicago - for 3 years - no one thought I had an accent. I moved to Southern NM for 2 years - no one thought I had an accent (S. NM is a lot of transplants from all over, much like Florida). Friend in Cali and Colorado do not think I have an accent. Went to Florida and never got "you must be from MI". Now I live in Cinci.
