Degron Therapeutics aims to become a global leader in the discovery and development of a new class of targeted protein degradation therapeutics, small molecule molecular glue degrader (MGD) drugs.
Degron - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
A degron is a portable element within a protein that can be recognized by a ubiquitin ligase for degradation. It is important to test the portability of a degron before conducting experiments to avoid potential issues with substrate recognition.
N-degrons and C-degrons are degradation signals whose main determinants are, respectively, the N-terminal and C-terminal residues of cellular proteins. N-degrons and C-degrons include, to varying extents, adjoining sequence motifs, and also internal lysine residues that function as polyubiquitylation sites.
N-degron and C-degron pathways of protein degradation - PMC
Discovered in 1986, N-degrons were the first degradation signals in short-lived proteins. A particularly large set of C-degrons was discovered in 2018. We describe multifunctional proteolytic systems that target N-degrons and C-degrons. We also propose to denote these systems as “N-degron pathways” and “C-degron pathways.”
Tying up loose ends: the N-degron and C-degron pathways of …
Selective protein degradation by the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is thought to be governed primarily by the recognition of specific motifs — degrons — present in substrate proteins.

Degron Tag and Its Role in Conditional Protein Regulation
2025年3月12日 · Conditional degron systems enable precise control over protein degradation in response to external stimuli. By engineering degron tags that respond to specific environmental or chemical triggers, researchers can regulate protein stability in a reversible and tunable manner.
Degron masking outlines degronons, co-degrading functional …
2022年5月11日 · Here we comprehensively analyzed degron masking, a major mechanism by which cellular systems coordinate degron recognition and protein degradation.
N-degron pathways - PubMed
2024年9月24日 · An N-degron is a degradation signal whose main determinant is a "destabilizing" N-terminal residue of a protein. Specific N-degrons, discovered in 1986, were the first identified degradation signals in short-lived intracellular proteins.
A novel auxin-inducible degron system for rapid, cell cycle
2023年8月3日 · The OsTIR1/auxin-inducible degron (AID) system allows “on demand” selective and reversible protein degradation upon exposure to the phytohormone auxin.
