2010年10月27日 · The column is only about 50% stressed. Circular ties would be ideal but unfortunatly we cannot place the ties from the top of the pipe only from the sides. BAretired, yes, there are two exeriour u ties as our placement of ties is limited. The existing pipe is supporting a conveyor that must stay in service while we pour this column.

For example, my firm does most of the work for this one particular hospital. A two story moment-frame building was designed by us 20+ years ago for 7 future floors.

2015年6月11日 · So if I understand right, only 4 vertical bars are all that's needed in a square or rectangular column. BUT if there are any additional vertical bars to the corner vertical bars: (1) if the bar is more than 6" from an adjacent longitudinal bar, it must be located in the corner of a tie, (2) OR if the bars are spaced closer than 6", every other bar needs to be in the corner of a tie.

2005年4月1日 · We are looking at a project where the EOR has designed columns without intermediate ties as required by the code. Bars are not bundled and details are Column size 32"x32". Single #8 bars at 6" ctrs with only an outer tie. In the commentary to 318-77 there is a suggestion that ommission of intermediate ties could be allowable.

2000年6月27日 · We cannot seem to find explicit requirements for the lap length on a circular tie in a circular column. In past projects I have used 12" or 16" depending on the column diameter. Chapter 7 doesn't seem to address the lateral tie splice (although "circular ties" are mentioned) and Chapter 12 doesn't seem to address it.

2018年2月25日 · my note on tie spacing is the following: 1) For columns with concrete strength equal and under 50 MPa distribute ties equally as per AS3600 c10.7.4 2) design ties to resist shear in columns which most cases would be uniform for lateral loads and thus again tie spacing could be less but still nonetheless uniform throughout the height of the column.

1999年4月24日 · If your column works as plain concrete perhaps that is a way to justify too large of a tie spacing. I would check the strain and stress in the longitudinal bars as well just to make sure they wouldn’t buckle with the strain in the concrete. Even if you don't need the steel strength you don't want the bars to buckle and damage the column.
