It is my understanding that the real-world costs of the two weapons are different by orders of magnitude, so the -87/103 has been fielded in far greater numbers and the -97/105 would only be used in cases that truly call for its specialized capabilities.

Oct 18, 2019 · On the topic of CBU-97's, I've been thoroughly enjoying cheesing the a2g missions on the inferno servers by setting a course to run lengthwise across the target area and rippling 10 of them at 500 foot intervals. Switch to the F2 view and watch the target area get completely engulfed in carnage and your kill count racks up fast.

Oct 18, 2023 · The CBU-97 pucks are sensor fuzed. They spread out over the target, each puck uses a sensor to look down, and when they detect that they're over something that resembles a vehicle, the shaped charge essentially fires a shot straight down onto the target.

In BMS, just stick to 87's and 103's. The 87/103 might actually be a bit over tuned in BMS, probably to compensate for the lack of the 97/105's effectiveness. There's no reason to use the 97/105 in BMS, they're just weight and drag. The SFW in DCS is the greatest thing ever. If units are close enough, you can wipe out several tanks with 105's ...
