Foelsch Riverside Nature Park, Buffalo City’s newest park, is a 10-acre stretch of woodland along the Mississippi River that includes walking trails for a close-up view of the creatures that flitter, fly, hop, crawl, run, nest and inhabit this shoreland area.

Buffalo City, chartered in 1859, is the oldest incorporated city in Buffalo County and was once perhaps the smallest city in the United States. The name Buffalo City may have been chosen because of three brothers who raised buffalo on a bluff overlooking the city.

Buffalo City has a common council form of government with a mayor and four alderpersons, all elected at large. The Voting polls are located at the Municipal Building at 245 E. 10th Street. Absentee Voting is available for all elections by contacting the municipal clerk prior to the election.

Wreaths Across America Event will be held at the Buffalo City Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at 11am. A short ceremony will be followed by the laying of over 246 wreaths on Veteran’s graves. Volunteers are encouraged to come help lay wreaths.
