Boss CS-3 vs. CP-1X - Telecaster Guitar Forum
May 25, 2021 · As stated earlier, it can do what the CS-3 does, but it can also do a lot more. Having separate control over the RATIO and COMPRESSION (aka "threshold" in common compressor terms) is a big advantage to versatility. On the CS-3 these controls are combined with the "sustain" knob. IMO - it is really worth learning how RATIO and THRESHOLD play ...
Boss CS-3 Power Problem - Telecaster Guitar Forum
May 27, 2012 · Older CS-3 pedals (as well as CS-2s) were designed for the ACA, and have R32 & D10 on their boards to drop the unregulated supply voltage down to a useable 9 volts. When you power an old ACA-type pedal off a modern regulated 9-volt supply, R32 & D10 drop the voltage even lower, and the pedal won't work.
Boss CS2 Versus CS3 - Telecaster Guitar Forum
Feb 7, 2008 · The CS-3 uses the same switching circuit as all the BOSS pedals, and so behaves just the same when switched OFF as all the rest. All the BOSS pedals use a unity gain FET front end as part of the switching circuit. The result is a very consistent sound with a constant load on the guitar of 1Meg ohm, even if several pedals are chained together.
Boss CS-3 adjustments - Telecaster Guitar Forum
Jul 2, 2015 · I purchased a used Boss CS-3 (Ebay), and I'm having difficulty finding the best way to set it up. Quite frankly, it doesn't seem to have much effect on what I hear coming out of the amplifier, the way that I set it up to what I think is right. Jun 13, 2010 · I use a CS-3, but only modded. Stock they are a bit crappy sounding. If you can solder, then PM me and I'll give you really great mod for the CS-3. Otherwise, I'd suggest a Boss CS-2 instead. The Keeley left me underwhelmed, and I agree that they are just too pricey. some other options might be: Wamplers Ego Compressor BBE Opto Stomp Barber ...

Why No Love for the Boss CS-3? - Telecaster Guitar Forum
Dec 20, 2010 · All three CS-3's that I've played with have sounded like Niagra Falls is flowing in the background when I kick them on. FFFFFfffffffffffffffff. Pretty bad. I'm not a BOSS fan in general. I have a CS-3 and a FRV-1 Reverb and an RC-20 looper and that's it.
Comp Shootout: MXR Dyna Comp, MXR Custom Comp, Boss CS-3
Jun 22, 2011 · Since I'm looking for a very quiet comp, I chose the MXR Dyna Comp to move on to round 2 against the Boss CS-3. With regard to noise, both were equally quiet, which means the Boss has less noise than the Custom Comp. Also, the Boss had just as smooth an application of compression as the Custom Comp, far better than the Dyna Comp.
