The Museum's collection of Greek and Roman art comprises more than 17,000 works ranging in date from the Neolithic period (ca. 4500 B.C.) to the time of the Roman emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity in A.D. 312.

These are free-standing ancient Greek figures, life-size or larger, and were often used as grave markers. These ancient statues, as were all ancient monuments and sculptures, were not originally as we see them today but were brightly painted sadly the colours have worn away with the passage of time.
