Stephen Dorsey in his book "American Military And Naval Belts 1812-1902", early in the Civil War the production of the 1851 cavalry saber belts was modified to add reinforcing rivets to high stress areas of the belt (at the keeper and where saber straps attach to belt). My belt has no such rivets.

2009年1月7日 · Your sword, like all those with American Military Supply Corp. markings, was German made. Many were made by Eickhorn prior to WWII but it is possible that they may have sourced these swords from other Solingen makers as well. Here is another example of one of the very ornate presentation grade swords imported by American Military Supply.
