The Grumman A-6 Intruder is a twinjet all-weather attack aircraft developed and manufactured by American aircraft company Grumman Aerospace. It was formerly operated by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

The Grumman A-6 Intruder was built and produced by Grumman Aerospace as an all-weather attack aircraft powered by twin jet engines developed in the late 1950s to early 1960s. In April 1960, the aircraft performed its maiden flight and was introduced in 1963.

Entering service in 1963, the A-6 Intruder was the US Navy and US Marine Corps' primary all-weather attack aircraft at the time of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident and US entry into the Vietnam War. Flying from American aircraft carriers off the coast, Intruders struck targets across North and South Vietnam for the duration of the conflict.

A-6 by 1963, and operations in Vietnam began in 1965. There, its heavy bomb load and low-level, all-weather capability made it invaluable. The A-6, however, was sent into the thickest of air defenses, and 84 were lost.
