2012年3月23日 · Having owned one 4.6/4-speed in the form of an Expy and several 5.4/4-speed F150's and now my 5.4/6-speed, I can state the 4.6 will NOT get any better gas mileage while also not having anywhere near the power of the 5.4. So go with the 5.4 if at all possible.

Color this by adding the stick (only on the V6) and you can see how misinformation gets around. Actually the V6 is a hard stressed, over sized six, as opposed to the 4.6, which is a low stressed, undersized V8.

For example the 4.6 4x4 with the standard trans and reg cab with the 3.31 rear end is rated to tow 2500 lbs. Same configuration with the auto trans is rated to tow 5800 lbs.
