Apr 23, 2002 · The Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine switches to the high-lift camshaft settings at 6000rpm. The high-lift cam lobes increase intake lift by 54 percent to 11.2 mm and exhaust lift by 38 percent to 10.0mm. The high-lift cam profiles have the effect of increasing valve-opening duration, and therefore the range of inlet timing variation.

Feb 17, 2014 · There is little whp difference from the 2ZZ-GE between the years when put on dyno despite the degrading crank figures. 2003 had lower lift (6000 or 6200rpm depending on how early it was made) and did not have air injection system for the exhaust/emissions. 2004+ Had lift around 6700rpm and have the air injection system.

According to Toyota's website there is a 10hp difference between the two cars (the Celica obviously having the higher hp). Now I was just wondering if the difference was all ECU tuning...

Jun 19, 2007 · So, no 200 WHP 2ZZ-GE N/A yet as far as I know. However, turbocharged 2ZZ-GE are even up to 290 - 350 WHP. Monkey Wrench Racing has a 505 WHP 2ZZ-GE with only low compression pistons swapped in. Everything else is bone stock down to the fuel rails and intake manifold etc.

Mar 8, 2016 · From Toyota's service manual for 2ZZ-GE engine cylinder block inspection and replacement: "Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.":surprise: It does in fact appear to protrude by about 2mm, even after installed "flush", as mentioned in DIY:

Aug 3, 2015 · Data from repair manual 2ZZ–GE: 0.016 – 0.032 mm (0.0006 – 0.0013 in.) Maximum oil clearance: 0.050 mm (0.0020 in.) MWR and machine shop who installed bearings firstly suggest 0.0020in is ok. Can this oil clearance cause lost of oil pressure in engine?

Jan 1, 2017 · An appropriate 2ZZ-GE ECU. An ECU from an 00-02 Celica GTS is the most ideal US-spec ECU, pretty much entirely because there's a couple of aftermarket ECUs for the car. You can also get an ECU From a Corolla RunX Z Aero or Corolla Sportivo.

Apr 8, 2016 · 2ZZ-GE Engine Intake 0.15-0.25 mm (0.006-0.010 in) Exhaust 0.35-0.45 mm (0.014-0.018 in) So you'd want the exhaust valves to end up with closer to .45mm clearance rather than .35 since as it all heats up things expand and the valve gets longer. Setting them to .35 may end up with valves that burn because it's too tight when hot.

These guys are the first ones to push the envelope on what this motor can do.
