I used the body of a real 1PN58 battery that was no longer able to recharge for the outer case. the inner casing is 2 small pieces of plastic conduit pipe from the local hardware store one fitted inside the other. I used a piece of cardboard to line the inside of the battery so the plastic pipe fit snugly and wont rattle around.

Apr 14, 2014 · Well, I swapped the power unit panel into my known good 1pn58 and it fired right up. So THAT part is working right. I even tried replacing the patched negative wire to eliminate the funky connector, but still no go. So the good news is; I'm about 99.5% sure it IS the tube.

Jun 12, 2012 · Does anyone know if these two night vision optics use the same 3 stage intensifier tubes? I am looking at buying a damaged 1PN58 but I am unsure if the spare tubes for my NSPU-34 can be used as a replacement. I suspect not but hopefully someone who has taken apart an 1PN58 is familiar with the part and can answer this question.
