A Scion dealer told me that the reason these are not an option on the Xb is that the tall height of the XB from the seat cushion to the roof would require a much larger air bag application than normal and perhaps a faster firing time and that Toyota opted not to go that route. They are optional on the Xa.

February 2024 edited February 2024 in Scion So I'm changing out the two serpentine belts on my buddy's 2005 Xb and the first thing I notice when I'm looking down through the top, hood open, is that there looks to be a pulley misaligned just below the alternator.

The single easiest performance upgrade is to use high octane gas. The high compression engine can use it. The 2005 xB was rated at 108 HP on premium gas, while the 2006 xB is rated at 103 HP on regular. Scion was told to rate the power based on the regular gas that was recommended in the Owners Manual.

The xB has 1500 cc, 108 hp and does 0-60 in 9.6 seconds (according to Car & Driver's review of four econoboxes last January). My xB with manual transmission has good acceleration left from 60 to 80, and then keeps going more slowly up to 100. The Metro has 1000 cc, 55 hp and does 0-60 in 12 seconds.
