oscillator - How do use a MOSFET for automatic switching?
2021年2月24日 · I'm trying to make an oscillator, but I can't wrap my head around the MOSFET. I have a very simple circuit (drawn in a cellphone paint app) where the circle with an arrow pointed at it is the MOSFET. Please tell me how to arrange the pins so that it will switch itself quickly. If I'm completely wrong on how they work, please tell me.

2022年4月8日 · Reading other comments on other threads, for full turn on of this MOSFET I need to have at around 10V on the gate even if thr MOSFET turns on at 5V and is capable of 20A. When I connect a resistor between the power supply and the circuit to lower current and voltage, the resistor goes black in 2 mins and the circuit doesn't perform as expected.

In the ARRL (2011) section 9.3.1 about LC oscillator circuits it says that "[t]he N-channel JFET source follower shown appears to be the most popular choice nowadays", but does not explain the advantages of JFETs over BJTs. All I can think of is the fact that BJTs need extra components in order to be biased, and JFETs have a higher input impedance.

Based on my understanding, each stage of the FETs provides 270 degrees of phase shift total. 180 from the inverting common source, and 90 from a pole due to the capacitor. In order to oscillate we need 360 degrees total.
