In this sentences, you can replace feel with am. "I feel bad" becomes "I am bad" Since you can make the verb swap, you know that feel is a linking verb describing a state.

It is a consequence of field conditions (see my recent book "Consciousness"). Sympathy is your interpretation of a situation. Just because you feel sorry and sympathize with me does not mean I actually feel bad.
